Does the Student Health Care Center (SHCC) accept my insurance?

The SHCC has the capability to direct-bill many insurance companies for covered medical charges. To find out if the SHCC accepts your insurance, we encourage you to provide us your insurance information ahead of time. Patient Financial Services will contact you if there is an issue with the information provided.


Complete the official waiver for proof of health insurance online at, and bring your insurance card to your first SHCC appointment.

  • Effective Summer B 2014, all newly admitted or re-admitted students meeting certain criteria will be required to show proof of health insurance; visit for all details and requirements mandated by the UF Board of Trustees.

  • Please note that waiver approval does not mean the SHCC automatically accepts your health insurance for payment of services. Contact your insurance company in advance of care to review in-network providers and benefits.

  2. Upload a copy of the front AND back of the insurance card where indicated.

  3. Contact the insurance company in advance of care to learn about policy benefits in detail, how your coverage will work in the Gainesville area and more.
  4. Bring your original insurance card to all appointments at the SHCC.
