Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs

Education/Counseling

Students who think they may need assistance or just want more information concerning alcohol, tobacco or other drugs can meet with a health promotion specialist.

QUIT Smoking Cessation Program

Thinking about quitting? The Student Health Care Center (SHCC), the Florida Department of Health, and the University of Florida Area Health Education Centers have partnered to provide discounted and free smoking cessation medication, medical screening and behavioral coaching to help UF students quit smoking.

Students who meet the criteria will be enrolled in the QUIT Program and will receive discounted or free medications. Discounted medications include Chantix® and Bupropion (Zyban® generic). Free medications include nicotine replacement patches, gum, and lozenges. These medications are available while supplies last; however, non-discounted medication, free medical screening and coaching are always available at the SHCC to registered UF students.

If you are interested, make an appointment with a medical provider at SHCC or call for an appointment with a health educator at GatorWell, 392-1161, ext. 4281. For your initial appointment at GatorWell, please bring a completed Quit Smoking Questionnaire to your session.
