General Services Provided:
- Counseling on contraceptive options, STD prevention, sexuality, and other women's health issues.
- Breast exams and instruction in self-examination.
- Pap smears and routine pelvic exams.
- The ThinPrep®, a liquid-based method, is the only pap smear method used at the SHCC. The ThinPrep® has the advantage that it can be checked with a DNA methodology for presence of viruses like HPV. The ThinPrep® can reveal more information, and the same specimen can be tested further if initial indications reveal abnormalities, saving the woman time and a return visit for another test.
- Pregnancy testing and referrals for optional services.
- Screening, diagnosis and treatment of STD's and vaginitis. Same day appointments are usually available for women experiencing symptoms.
- Routine testing may also be arranged.
- Abnormal pap follow-up, colposcopy, cryosurgery and LEEP.
Consultant Gynecologists are available for specific referrals such as abnormal pap follow-up, colposcopy, cryosurgery and LEEP. Please note, there may be additional charges for certain services, be sure to ask in advance!
Also, patients who are scheduling a Yearly Exam will be asked to fill out the Women's Health History Form and Health Risk Profile before an appointment with the Women's Clinic.
