Julie Abrams-Bernier

Dr. Abrams-Bernier received her undergraduate degree from Davidson College and her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida.  She is licensed as a Psychologist in Florida.  Dr. Abrams-Bernier considers herself to be a generalist, however, her areas of professional interest include trauma and recovery, anxiety, depression, and behavioral health/wellness.

Jackie L. Ayers

Dr. Ayers received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida. His areas of specialty are Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology, Behavioral Health Services Delivery, Consultation, and Administration. Nationally, he has served as Past President of the American College Health Association (ACHA), ACHA Consultant, member of the Boards of Directors for ACHA, University of Florida's JWRU, Stephen O'Connell Center (Chair), and Recreational Sports, member of APA, NASPA, ACPA, and EAPA. He is also an Affiliate faculty member in the Counseling Psychology Department and is an ACHA Fellow.

Beth-Anne Blue

Dr. Blue is a licensed psychologist in the states of Florida and Ohio. She has Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. Dr. Blue also serves as the Coordinator of the Center for Sexual Assault/Abuse Recovery & Education (C.A.R.E.). Her specialties include depression and anxiety disorders, working with survivors of trauma, women's issues and eating disorders.

Beverly Brady

Dr. Brady completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida. She is a licensed psychologist and a member of the American Psychological Association. Her areas of interest include substance abuse, multicultural counseling, and women's issues.

Norma Charles

Dr Charles received her BS in psychology from Xavier University and her MEd in Counseling from the University of Kansas. She also holds an MS in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her areas of interest are: multicultural issues, couples therapy, child and family therapy, women's issues, and group counseling. She is involved with the American Psychological Association and the American College Health Association.

Beree Darby

Dr. Darby studied biology and chemistry at Grand Valley State University where she was selected as one of 50 students nationwide to do research at Argonne National Laboratory. After receiving her MS in biochemistry from Purdue University, she joined UF's research faculty in the Departments of Surgery, Pathology and Pediatrics. She won an Outstanding Performance Award for establishing a biochemical laboratory to isolate a bone cancer antigen in human blood. While doing research, she completed her PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Florida where she combined her training in biochemistry and psychology and specialized in psychoneuro-immunology. Her dissertation research was the first to demonstrate biochemically that psychological intervention can improve the immune system response. She wrote a chapter in Neuroimmunology on this research. She has also written a chapter on psychoimmunology for the Encyclopedia of Complementary Health Practices . Dr. Darby maintains a private practice specializing in health related issues with patients recovering from cancer and other immune system related illnesses. She also specializes in performance enhancement with athletes and working with professionals in high stress jobs and lifestyles. She hosted a radio show in Phoenix and Massachusetts and Rhode Island areas called "Optimal Health with Dr. Darby". She is also an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Counseling Psychology.

Cynthia Eddleton

Dr. Eddleton completed her residency and internship at the University of Florida Department of Pediatrics, and Learning Disabilities/Neurology where she received the Hugh and Cornelia Carithers Award in Child Health Development. She graduated with an MD from the University of Florida College of Medicine and holds a BS in Biology from the University of Central Florida. She holds professional memberships in the American Medical Association and in the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her area of focus is mental health issues in primary care. She has been a member of the SHCC staff for 15 years.

Lynne Goldman

Dr. Goldman received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida's Counselor Education Department. Her areas of Interest/Specialization include Women's Issues, Relationships, Trauma and Abuse, Eating Disorders. She is a member of the UF Trauma Response Team.

Anthony Greene

Dr. Greene received his BA in Recreational Administration from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. He also received his MA in Physical Education from the University of Florida and a PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology from the University of South Florida. He is a Licensed psychologist in the State of Florida. Areas of interest include: Health psychology and Multicultural psychology. He is a member of APA, EAPA, ABP, and PKP.

Michelle Jacobs

Dr. Jacobs received her BS in Biology from the Florida A&M University and an MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Florida.

Ann Tierney Jaronski

Dr. Tierney Jaronski received her BA in Psychology from Emory University, MA in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University, and PhD in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University. She considers herself a generalist, however her professional areas of interest include Women's issues, Trauma response and recovery, and Anxiety (with special interest in social anxiety). She is a member of the Florida Psychological Association.

Roger Keroak

Dr. Keroak received his BA in Psychology from Boston College and an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florida. His areas of focus are relationships and anxiety.

Jeannie Lattimer

Jeannie Latimer, MEd., Ed.S, LMHC has been on staff at Student Mental Health for 15 years. She was also a Counseling Associate at University of Florida Counseling Center for 3 years. She received her Bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Georgia, and her Master's/Specialist in Education/Counselor Education from the University of Florida. She is experienced in both private and public sector. In addition to her work at the University of Florida, she has served as the Director of Community Health Education, St. Joseph Hospital and as a Psychotherapist at Northside Hospital Health Psychology Dept. She also maintains a private practice focused on Biofeedback and Counseling. Her areas of interest include: Anxiety/Panic Disorders, Biofeedback Services for Stress Management, Chronic Pain, Medical Issues, Sexual Assault/Abuse and Eating Disorders.

Alvin Lawrence

Dr. Lawrence received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida. His areas of interest include: couples therapy, anxiety, sexuality issues, and self-hypnosis.

Helda Montero

Helda Montero, MEd/EdS, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor and a Florida Approved Supervisor. She received her BS in Psychology from the University of Florida and an MEd/EdS in Mental Health Counseling from the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Florida. Her areas of focus are Women's issues, Multicultural issues, Technology in Counseling and Counselor education. As a member of the American Counseling Association, she is co-chair of the Cybertechnology Issues Committee and coordinates the Association for Multicultural Counseling's Day of Latino Programming. In the State of Florida, she is the founder and president of the Gainesville-Ocala Chapter of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association and has served as the Registered Mental Health Intern Representative. She is also a Board member of the Gainesville Commission on the Status of Women. In addition, she maintains a private supervision practice and is an adjunct faculty in the Mental Health Counseling program at Webster University.

Sylvia Montesinos

Dr. Montesinos obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology at Jacksonville University. She the entered the University of Florida where she completed both medical school and residency. Throughout her training, she developed an interest in community psychiatry and as a resident she was awarded the Alumni Association Outstanding Resident Award for her work with the homeless. As faculty, she has remained involved in the community by continuing to participate in the resident-run free clinic for the homeless. Currently, however, she focuses most of her attention on her work at the Student Health Care Center as Asst. Prof. where she works with a team of mental health providers delivering care for the student population. She is a co-group leader for "The Essentials of Patient Care" and meets with third year medical students individually to work on basic clinical skills.

Marcia Morris

Dr. Morris graduated with a BA from Harvard University and an MD from Yale University. She is Board Certified in Psychiatry since 1995 and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatry Association. She serves as the Clinical Coordinator of the Eating Disorders Team at the Student Health Care Center. Her areas of interest are: eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and depression.

Cathy Owen

Cathy received her BA in English from the University of Rochester and her MSW from Rutgers University. She is the Coordinator of Training Opportunities as SMH. In addition, she holds clinical membership in AAMFT and is a Field Supervisor and Faculty Fellow for FSU School of Social Work. Her areas of interest include Women's Issues, Family of Origin, Relationship Concerns, and Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender Concerns.

W. Max Parker

Dr. Parker received his BS from Stillman College in English and Spanish and an MS in Counselor Education from the University of Florida. He also holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Educational Administration from the University of Florida. His areas of specialty include: Multicultural counseling, Group counseling and Psychotherapy. His professional involvements include ACA, ACES, ASGW, and AMCD. As an author, he has published Multicultural Responsibility with Jennifer Sager and Consciousness Raising (3rd ed) with Mary Fukuyama.

Roberta Seldman

Dr. Seldman is a licensed psychologist and the Coordinator of the Eating Disorders Program. She originated the program in 1993. This program composed of a multidisciplinary team of therapists, nutritionists, and physicians. In addition to her specialty in the areas of eating disorders and women's issues she has worked as a psychologist for the University Athletic Association since 1992 where she provides individual counseling for the student athletes as well as consultation with teams, staff, coaches and administrators. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the Ohio State University and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Florida.

Barbara Welsch

Dr. Welsch earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology and her Med/EdS in Counselor Education at the University of Florida. She received her BA in Psychology and Education from Marietta College. Dr. Welsch's chief interest is in the area of mind-body-spirit medicine. She is a certified Chilel Qigong instructor and a Reiki master and a formerly licensed emergency medical technician. Her therapy practice is multimodal and includes Depth Oriented Brief Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), hypnosis, biofeedback, neurofeedback, energy psychology (Thought Field Therapy) and group therapy. As a former board certified veterinary internist (currently only practicing small animal acupuncture on occasion), Dr. Welsch has a keen interest in the human-animal bond, animal communication, and traditional chinese veterinary medicine. Her involvements in include: Advisor for the Center for Health and Spirituality, Adjunct professor Psychology Department, Courtesy associate professor College of Veterinary Medicine and counselor for the College of Veterinary Medicine. She is also a counselor for the University Athletic Association.

Rizan Yozgat

Rizan is a ANCC certified Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her MSN from the University of Florida and is both a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. She also holds an MAE from Western Kentucky University in Community/Agency Counseling.
